Wednesday, December 10, 2008 -- VISTA, Calif. -– Directed Electronics has announced organizational changes designed to strengthen the company's leadership in the growing field of digital OEM integration, which allows aftermarket electronics to interface seamlessly with today's vehicles, according to the company.
The company's expertise in OEM integration supports and contributes to Directed's number one market share position in consumer branded vehicle security and remote start systems in North America based on sales.
The company is establishing an OEM integration division based in Quebec, Canada. This new operating unit will be composed of a dedicated group of engineers, product planners and other technical and marketing support staff, who will be dedicated to this critical and growing component of Directed's security and remote start business, according to the company.
Derek Schumann has been appointed president of the OEM integration division.
Schumann's appointment to the new position creates a vacancy in the company's Canadian operation. Mark Rutledge, who is now serving as senior vice president of engineering and product development, will serve as president of Directed Canada.
These changes will further align the company's operations in Southern California and Quebec, generating synergies and speeding innovative new products to market. Both Schumann and Rutledge will report to Mike Simmons, president of Directed Electronics, according to the company.
"Mark and Derek are uniquely qualified for these leadership roles," Simmons said. "Derek has been a pioneer in the development and growth of the OEM integration industry, and Mark has an unparalleled understanding of our operations in both Vista and Canada. The innovation that will result from these changes will further expand our leadership position in the security, remote start and OEM interface businesses."
