Viper SmartKey

Viper has been named an International CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering Awards Honoree for its Viper SmartKey.
Viper has taken the company's award-winning Passive Keyless Entry idea and realized the next evolution with the SmartKey. Now a driver can automatically lock and unlock car doors simply by carrying their compatible smartphone. No fobs are required.

"Our engineers have worked hard to raise the bar and continue to devise ways that enhance the user experience," said John Durbin, Director of Project Management for SmartStart. "Our Viper SmartStart Bluetooth interface was already a popular way to lock or unlock or even remote start the vehicle at short range. Now it also controls the door locks for them automatically. The user doesn’t even have to have the phone in their hand for SmartKey to work.”

SmartKey detects the approaching owner and automatically unlocks the doors when they’re in range. It locks them again when they walk away from the vehicle. The owner can set the range as desired and access other SmartKey features by using the Viper SmartStart v3.2 app, scheduled for release at the same time as SmartKey products.
